Friends of the Sands
Started in 2004, we are a volunteer group located in northwestern Indiana in Newton County. We are dedicated to promoting the natural areas and heritage of the Kankakee Sands ecoregion. We support conservation work in the region, especially the Kankakee Sands Project of The Nature Conservancy.
We host a variety of volunteer workdays throughout the year, maintain an events calendar, and hold our Native Plant Sale in May. Find us on our Facebook page. All ages and abilities are welcome to join us!
There are no membership fees and our events are free and open to all.
